In fact, you can install many of its versions (Linux comes in several different flavors, called distributions or distros) on a USB stick. Once you've created your portable computer, simply plug it.

Essentials for creating a Portable PCLinuxOS MiniMe:
- A 512MB or larger USB flash drive
- pclinuxos*.iso
- Universal USB Installer
PCLinuxOS USB Flash Drive install tutorial:
- Download and run Universal USB Installer, select PCLinuxOS and follow the onscreen instructions
- Reboot your PC and set your system BIOS or Boot Menu to boot from the USB device, save your changes and reboot booting from the memory stick

USB Damn Small Linux (DSL)? This is a revisit of the Windows DSL USB installation tutorial: 'Putting damn small linux on a USB pendrive'. Damn Small Linux was created by John Andrews, and is basically a trimmed down version of an early Knoppix build, making it perfect for smaller drives. Based on the 2.4 kernel, DSL is great to use for older and slower computers as well. It will fit and run on portable devices or drives as small as 64MB.

- Universal USB Installer (to install DSL to USB)
How to make a Damn Small Linux USB Flash Drive:
- Download and run the Universal USB Installer, select DSL, and follow the onscreen instructions
- Once the script has finished, reboot your computer and set your system BIOS or Boot Menu to boot from the USB device
If all goes well, you should now be booting into DSL from your Damn Small Linux Flash Drive.
Notes: It is also possible to 'Run Damn Small Linux in Windows using Qemu emulation' without the need to reboot the PC.
